Simple yet Modern… K + D!

We started out the afternoon at a winery, a very modern venue, lots of color, simple yet very slick. The day was gorgeous and a perfect afternoon. The winery is beautiful…We walked around and the sun peeked out right when we started. Talk about perfect timing…After spending time enjoying the winery we went to the park so we could have photos with one of their favorite friends Penny. Of course I had brought my dog Sunshine in my jeep so she could meet Penny after the photoshoot. We all ended up with mud over us…it was so much fun!

And, a little bit about Doug & Kristy:

Doug was born and raised in the Seattle area, went to Kennedy HS, and then onto UW to earn his degree in mechanical engineering.  After a few years working for “the man”, he decided the corporate life was not for him, and moved onto greener pastures – literally – to start his own landscaping and general contracting business.  He’s been working for himself ever since and has never looked back.

Kristy was born in Ft. Lewis, WA, but lived out most of her life in various parts of Michigan.  Her Dad finally retired and she and her family moved to Iron River, Michigan.  She went to college at Michigan Tech and also got her degree in mechanical engineering.  After college she moved around a bit and lived in Detroit, Phoenix, Brazil, back to Phoenix, and finally came full circle and moved back to Seattle in January of 2004.  She traded her engineering hat in as well about 4 years ago, to work in the web/mobile field, and loves it.

Kristy had heard of Doug through their friend Tim, and always knew that Doug was a swimmer.  One day when she was looking for pools, she asked Tim for Doug’s email address and sent him an email to ask him about where the best pools were.  They became friends through email, and corresponded for about 8 months, without ever thinking anything more would ever come of it.  Then one day they finally decided to meet up for a drink and were immediate friends.  To Kristy’s surprise, Doug asked Kristy out for their first date – a swimming date!  It wasn’t long before it was clear that this relationship was different, and their friendship that started the whole thing is certainly the glue that keeps them together to this day.  This past August, Doug asked Kristy to marry him at the pool where they had their first date.

They enjoy doing projects around the house, hanging out together, and being entertained by their dog Penny and cats Onyx and Grady.  They also just enjoy being together, doing all the boring stuff in life, but doing it together.

And a few of the couples “SNEAK PEEKS”:

We are one month for their “WEDDING” and at a venue that’s going to be a-m-a-z-i-n-g! The Skansonia Ferry Boat! I am very excited!

Thanks again!
