Christy + Marty / Part III / MAUI Destination Wedding / Trash Your Dress

I love destination weddings and I am so excited to share these photos for another part of Christy and Marty’s wedding day week! Sunset shoot, and Trash your Dress… talk about A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and a total blast! And, some of my favorite shots from the whole trip!!! Not only was I blessed to be able to photograph this couple’s big day, but I was able to go to Maui and become dear friends with these two lovebirds. We started at Grand Wailea WOW…this is the most amazing resort I have ever been too! If you’re heading to Maui….this IS THE PLACE to go! The resort is breathtaking, the view unbelievable, the restaurants super yummy! LOVED IT!

We then headed to Mana Kai Maui Hotel Room for the “trash your dress session.” Love these…so fun, however this one was extra challenging due the 50+ mile an hour winds that day. Trying to keep a veil on a bride is a little tough. 😉 I am all about fun props so I had to come up with some fun additions for my couple. I know I had as much fun as these two however; I wasn’t the one getting wet!

And, some of my favs:
Mahalo Christy and Marty! Looking forward to photographing your big reception here in Seattle on Saturday!
Much love,
Rachelle

K + R’s WEDDING!

Wedding day! Darling couple, lovebirds, beautiful venue, gorgeous castle setting, sunny day….. Kellie and Robert have been a lot of fun getting to know. I was referred to this couple from another bride’s mom referral! (Big shout out to you Lisa!) We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for these two. Sun was shining bright; everyone was so excited all day long. The ceremony was in the evening, in a gorgeous tent outside, and then the guests toasted for cocktail hour while listening to a bagpiper play out on the beautiful greens with the sun setting behind. The celebration continued with a delicious sit down dinner, a packed tent full of dancing guests, amazing PINK lighting, and tons of fun!

A + K’s WEDDING!

My second photographer and I headed to Bellingham for Amanda and Kevin’s WEDDING DAY! We started early in the morning, when we were just about there I had 2 deer and a fox right by my jeep! Living in the Pacific Northwest we see a lot of animals but these I could almost touch them. With my cameras all ready to go for the big day I had to snap a few shots. Then we were back on the road to our original destination….

The ceremony and reception was held at the gorgeous Lairmont Manor. The beautiful brick venue is amazing, and the ravishing gardens surrounding it made for a dream day. You could not help but feel the love all day long from these two. So very fun and silly and I loved every second with them too. Everything was perfect….the details in their day just showed off this couples personality. From the beautiful wedding dress that was designed out of her mom’s wedding dress, amazing photo booth, handmade pinwheels, vintage books, suitcases, typewriters, banners, and homemade jam just to name a few…

K + C’s WEDDING!

I always LOVE referrals, but this one is extra special…..I was referred to this couple by the bride’s mom Jan, who I just adore! (Thanks a zillion Jan!) I knew the first time I met this couple that I would just love working with them! Getting to know these two over the last year has truly been amazing and I am thrilled to have another couple as my dear friends! Kyla and Christian are simply amazing! So fun, so in love, and you cannot help but just smile when you are around them both!

Kyla and Chris’s BIG DAY started with the girls getting ready at the bride and grooms house. With lots going on, everyone being so excited, we headed off to Seattle for the “1st Glance” at Parsons Gardens, where the ceremony was held at. As we were leaving we heard that traffic was horrible due to 520 being closed…we got stuck in traffic for over an hour, however this bride did not let that hinder in her big day. Nope, not at all…with that gorgeous smile on her face we just moved on to the next section of photos we had planned.

The “1st glance” was perfect….all tucked back in the park under the beautiful trees. This is always one of my favorite parts of the day….and let me tell you this groom; he was dancing as he was standing there just to see his bride for the very first time. 🙂 I will say I even chuckled behind the camera when the first words out of this grooms mouth were “OMG!” 🙂 He could not stand still….but how could he with his stunning bride Kyla!!!! After the beautiful ceremony we then took off to take more photos at Marshall Park, and Kerry Park while the guests headed to the reception.

The reception was held at “Uptown Hideaway,” everyone danced the night away with their fun dj, delicious food, gorgeous venue, and a night they will never forget!

G + J “ENGAGED!”

I love when couples get engaged but this one is extra special! I have known Jeremy (the groom to be) since 4th grade! I won’t say how many years ago, but let me tell you it’s “many” years! I remember moving here in 4th grade and my mom sending me to school with only two more weeks to go before summer break. I didn’t want to go as this was my 4th school change in one year due to my dad getting transferred from his job. There were two boys in my class that I will never forget, Jeremy being one of them. Those two boys wouldn’t stop picking on me and teasing me because of my cool “red” painter pants that I wore on the first day. (Pockets galore!) I remember him saying, “What do you think you’re going to be someday, a painter or an artist?” Well Jeremy….you guessed that one right! Jeremy is so fun and has been an amazing friend growing up. All of those fun “KANG” days, the fun nights going to play bingo, and I of course had to have every color there was on the dobbers! Working with Jeremy after college and all of those great days, love his family, and he is just someone you always want to be around. Little did I know in 4th grade that one day I would get chosen to photograph his biggest day ever!

Now a little bit about the couple:

Gyna is from Venezuela and is so adorable, and has the most adorable personality. These two couldn’t be more perfect for each other! We headed downtown for an urban feel for the photos and had a blast. The lighting was perfect, and all I could do is smile “behind” the camera the whole time when I photographed these two lovebirds.

Jeremy and Gyna met in summer 2009 thru some mutual friends. They found their paths crossing more and more each week and then started dating shortly after the summer. They enjoy playing tennis, rollerblading, snowboarding, traveling, having movie date nights, and are big HAWKS fans.

The day of their engagement, even the night prior, Jeremy was acting very strange. They had decided to take the ferry to Bainbridge Island. Before they could leave for the ferry he said he needed to wait for a package that was being delivered. Gyna later found out that the infamous package was her engagement ring!

It was raining cats and dogs all day in Bainbridge Island. They did the usual walk through the stores and had an amazing lunch on the island waterfront. On the ferry back to Seattle Jeremy suggested they go to the upper deck. With it still pouring, really windy, and with the view of the Space Needle, Qwest Field, and downtown Seattle, Jeremy got down on one knee and asked Gyna to marry him. That evening they later celebrated with a fabulous dinner at the Space Needle with Jeremy’s family. It was the most romantic night of their lives and a day they will never forget.
