We could not have asked for more perfect weather for an Engagement Shoot on
Alki! It’s a big deal for the “
SUN” to actually make an appearance here in Seattle this summer so we honestly lucked out. I had a fantastic time getting to know
Amanda and
Kevin more and I was so excited to meet their new family member “Winnie.” (Their darling and so well behaved dog.) I love when my couples want to use props… and they came well prepared along with their cute pooch. We had a great time walking around the waterfront of Alki and especially enjoyed the “natural lighting” when the sun went down. (Makes for great “lovey dovey” photos, which are my favorite of course!)
Now a little bit about the couple:
High school sweethearts, Kevin and Amanda met 14 years ago in French class in their hometown of Dublin, CA. Beginning with their first date nearly 12 years ago, the two have most enjoyed time spent together exploring slightly nerdy endeavors and quirky destinations. As teens, they spent weekends shouting “Huzzah!” at the Renaissance Festival while donning garb and swords, and now love to join friends at sci-fi and fantasy conventions, including getting gussied up in top-hats and bustles for SteamCon. With spare time on weekends, they made trips to Santa Cruz, CA to hunt down vinyl records to add to their respective collections of vintage rock, folk, and jazz. In the Pacific Northwest, they have enjoyed trips to Portland, regular strolls through Pike Place Market, and look forward to visiting Orcas Island and Port Townsend on their honeymoon. They share a passion for reading (comics and books), watching cult sci-fi and fantasy film and TV, playing board and card games, rockabilly, swing, and Celtic-punk music, and exploring the restaurants of Seattle.
Kevin and Amanda moved to Washington from California in 2005 for family and graduate school, joining both their sets of parents and much of Kevin’s family – originally from Washington State. They’ve recently settled in West Seattle and rescued a new family member, Winnie T. Dog, a 4-year old boxer-shar
pei mix who’s quickly filled the role of a first-born daughter and “grand-doggy,” winning everyone’s hearts with her propeller-like tail and proclivity for cuddles.
The two will marry this August at
Lairmont Manor in Bellingham, WA at an eclectic vintage-inspired wedding with DIY details including antique typewriters for guests to use to compose their notes to the couple, dahlias hand-picked by friends and family at Boxx Berry Farms and displayed in a collection of vintage ball jars, strawberry and raspberry jam favors canned by the bride and her mother-in-law to be, and invitations featuring original wood-cut art by one of Amanda’s bridesmaids.
And, their SNEAK PEEK SLIDESHOW:
Thank you again so much! You guys are just darling and I loved getting to know you more! Can’t wait for your big day at your gorgeous venue!
Cheers,
Rachelle
We could not have picked a more picture perfect day here in the Pacific Northwest for this wonderful couple, Kim and Andrew! Their “BIG DAY” took place at the gorgeous Lord Hills Farm. The ceremony was held upstairs in the gigantic barn, where the lighting was dimmed and it overlooked the gorgeous view of the Cascade Mountains, Snohomish Valley, grass fields, and the pond that is filled with wildlife. The theme was a “vintage” style and the décor was perfect. Family and friends came from all over the world to watch this darling couple say “I DO” and to share in their “First Kiss.” After the gorgeous ceremony the guests headed out to the grass fields to listen to the beautiful music played by Jason Parker Quartet and to play some croquet and boules. The reception then continued downstairs inside the barn. And then the couple ran off in their British Car from British Motor Coach.

BRENDA & MATT recently “tied the knot” at the Arbor Gardens, in Lake Stevens. Not only did it rain on their very special day, it poured the ENTIRE day! (That means EXTRA good luck for the Bride and Groom!) Arbor Gardens is beautiful, so green, and filled with lots of pretty flowers. This couple did not let one raindrop hinder in their BIG DAY! It even rained so much that the northwest slugs and snails came out to celebrate! Lots of umbrellas were used, which made for really cute photos even though we were all still soaked! I could not have ever asked to work with a calmer bride as she did not let any of this interfere with her dream day. The venue has a gorgeous old barn that was on the property before the owners moved there. It made for a perfect spot for photos of the bride and groom, along with the groomsmen, and the wedding party. We also used the cute gazebo to keep dry while taking photos. The barbeque was delicious and all brought in by Double Barrel BBQ. It was a huge hit to all of their family and friends and the festivities continued way into the evening!
And a few favs:
